wow..a whole month without blogging.  Some shit we call life has kept me away but I’m back now. Now its knda hard to put in whatever’s happened in the past one month so I guess I’m not even going to try. Bah!

So the weather here in the Cleve seems to have cleared up and we’re finally seeing some warm weather. It was 80 degrees downtown today, which was pretty sweet. Its funny cos its that time of the yer again when people don’t really know how to dress.  Even with 80 degrees weather outside you will see enough epople with sweaters and jackets hanging about outside. Can’t blame people with the way this Ohio weather behaves, its probably best to be prepared. I know I’ve always carried around an umbrella with me, its rained in the summer, winter and fall so its come in handy.

My buddy Simmo landed himself a job here in the cleve like 2 weeks ago and moved in with me.  Its been pretty cool. So this weekend Simmo and I head out to a Mall near here called “Crocker Park”.  Now, crocker park is like the Kingdom of Prep, or Prepdom I should say.  It has all these stores you would expect in a preppy shoppers paradise, the urban outfitters, the abercrombie and fitch and yadda yadda yadda.  So it was basically a mall filled with rich, white preppy kids who listen to Emo, who were driven to the mall by their preppy parents in their prius’. That many P’s in a sentence, I must be pissed. Geez, why should I even be pissed off at preppy kids, they have as much as right to exist on this planet as other any other scum.  Anyways, it was an interesting experience.

Works going well.  Its always interesting treading in unchartered territory, because no ones ever been in my position no one really knows what to expect, least of all myself. So I guess I take it pretty much a day at a time and see where this gets me. I’ve enjoyed the ride so far, with summer right around the corner, there’s a lot to look forward to and I’m really looking forward to it.

Who murdered Bob Woolmer? March 23, 2007

Looking back now, it seems fairly obvious that Bob Woolmer was murdered. All that talk about him being diabetic and him not taking the loss well and dying seems so naive and baseless. The man was a thorough professional, having played cricket himself.  And any individual going ahead with a coaching job in the sub-continent, especially Pakistan, would be well aware of the stress levels of the job.  To say he simply was saddened and died of a broken heart is being ultra naive, Woolmer was paid handsomly for his job and being a thorough professional he would have taken defeats, yes even the ones against Ireland, in his stride.

Having established the fact that Bob Woolmer has indeed been murdered, it leads us to the very obvious next question. Who murdered Bob Woolmer? I’m going to go out on a limb here and pull out my best guess from my a** once again. Alright folks, get ready for this….I’m willing to bet a member of the Pakistani cricket team has killed him.  Here’s why:

Its been established that Bob Woolmer received a death threat right after the defeat, the very evening of his death. Having known that, he refused to go out to eat, instead having room srevice deliver dinner to his room. Under this situation, the only person who could have possibly any access to the coach that evening would have to be a member of the Pakistani cricket team. What are the chances of Bob Woolmer entertaining a complete stranger, on the night of worst day of his coaching career and the night he receives a death threat as well? It almost certainly has to be a mmeber of the Pakistani squad. Now, this might not necessarily be a playing member. I’m not aware of the support staff the Pakistani team travels with but they are not beyonf suspicion. But I would more likely guess a player is involved. Why you ask? Read on…

Bob Woolmer was apparently strangulated, his neck was found broken.  This does not seem like a professional, planned out, slick mafia hit. Strangulation is painful, slow and dare I say noisy even.  Everything you would want to avoid if you wanted to make  quick getaway. Besides, professional hitmen have way more sophisticated methods of murder such as poisoning or silent guns etc. This was not a professional job. It is more likely a job carried A. In the spur of the moment B. By an amateur and C. a very strong individual. It would be safe to assume that the person who killed Bob Woolmer would well have to be larger and stronger than Woolmer himself. And now, by all accounts Bob Woolmer was not a small man, infact one can notice he had quite a thick neck and strangulating him would’ve taken some serious effort.  This makes me suspicious that this wasnt the act of one single person, its almost certain there will be accomplices in this murder.

Now, having stated the above, who could be that one (lets assume one for now!) person who A. Had access to Woolmer on the night of his murder B. Was larger and more powerful than Woolmer and C. Prone to physical violence at the spur of a moment. Who you ask? Ladies and gentlemen of the concerned world of cricket, I have no choice but to deduce from my observations above,  one person who is very likely to have had a hand (no pun intended) in Bob Woolmer is none other than the Pakistani cricket captain Inzamam Ul Haq himself.  Yes, the docile, patient, almost baby faced, humble giant of an individual who has been a spectacular sportsman over the past decade and half….could have well murdered his own coach.  Why you ask? What is his motive? Well, why don’t we just wait to hear what other information is revealed surrounding this case and if at all the Jamaican police believe a player is involved (I believe they are not ruling this out at the moment) before we speculate any further.

I encourage you to share your comments, views and opinions. Trolls, I will promptly delete your comments so don’t even bother posting them. Constructive, well thought out opinions or theories are most appreciated.

Was Bob Woolmer the victim of a mafia hit? March 21, 2007

So my last post on Bob Woolmer’s mysterious death seems to have attracted quite a bit of attention. Well, search engine attention anyways, with about 250 hits in three days. Thats like more than this blog has received in its history.  I figured, let me be the hit whore that I am and fan the flames of this mystery some more and see where we get. So ladies and gentlemen, watch as I pull out another (not) completely baseless theory on the  mysterious death of Bob Woolmer, way outta my a**.  In this entry I ask, Was Bob Woolmer the victim of a mafia hit? God, I am such an awful person!

Anyways, so it turns out that Bob Woolmer was writing two books when he died. No, no, ..he wasn’t actually writing them at the time he passed away! He was close to completing the books, one of which was to be a coaching manual and the other was supposedly on the topic of match-fixing. Thats right folks. Bob Woolmer had dared to go where no coach of the Pakistan cricket team should ever go in a bazillion years. He apparently met with the police commissioner of Delhi a couple of years ago when Pakistan toured India, to talk about the match-fixing case and we can all rest assured that Paul delivered all the juicy details that Bob was looking for!

There’s a been a conspiracy theory for a while now that Hansie Cronje, the match fixing king, was the victim of a mafia hit.  His plane crashed crashed (mysteriously?) in South Africa back in 2003, killing Cronje.   Now Bob Woolmer was the coach of the very awesome South African cricket team from the mid-90’s, the period which saw the acsendancy of Hansie Cronje’s captaincy. It also probably saw the ascendancy of Cronje’s match fixing tactics so I guess its safe to say that Woolmer must have been witness to Cronje’s deeds, both in good times and at the worst of times.  Being privy to an association with cricket’s biggest all time cheat must make wonderful material for a book. I’d buy that for a dollar. What it also does is make you a target for a mafia hit yourself, especially if you try to dig into matters probably best left untouched, like the match fixing case in bookie haven (India).  Now, I don’t claim to have expert knowledge on how the mafia works, but based on how the Springfield Mafia on the Simpsons work, we can all tell that you …Don’t screw with Fat Tony….or else he’ll have Legs and Louie come after you.  And Noo you don’t want that!

So, to sum things up.  Woolmer was the coach of a cricket team during cricket’s ugliest era, closely associated with the biggest match fixer of all time, Hansie Cronje. Woolmer goes onto coach the Pakistan cricket team. A team that has been notorious for fixing matches through the 90’s and even through the ’00’s, and delivering shocking losses.  This very team delivers another “shock” loss, this time against Ireland.  The man who found himself, most likely, an unwilling witness to shocking deals of match fixing, both during his time as coach of South Africa and Pakistan, decides to write a book on what he’s seen and heard, finds himself murdered the day after his team suffers a shock defeat to Ireland.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the cricket loving world, I rest my case.

The mystery of bob woolmers death March 19, 2007

Just a couple of hours ago I read the tragic news of the death of one of crickets best coaches in the contemporary era, Bob Woolmer, a day after Pakistans shock defeat to Ireland in the world cup.

Now, I know Pakistan losing to Ireland was a shock and Woolmer obviously did not take it well. I dont think anyone will ever be able to tell the impact this loss had on Woolmer and how it affected him. But something tells me it might not have been as catastrophic an impact as its being made out in some parts of the media.  I think Woolmer was well aware that he wasn’t coaching odds on favorites to win the world cup, if anything this has been one of the most weakest teams pakistan have sent to a world cup in recent years.  For such a team to lose to Ireland, while might have been shock, it could not have possibly affected Woolmer to the extent of him commiting suicide or having a heart attack because of the deep trauma he suffered.

Away from all of the events, I’m willing to throw out a theory that might well be with some basis and not one that I completely pulled out of my a**.  I’m pretty sure there’s been foud play in Woolmers death.  For the reasons above, and furthermore this is the “Pakistani cricket team” we’re talking about.  Who knows if some crazy Pakistani cricket supporter, player, observer might have poisoned him or even killed him in some other manner. Mind you there hasn’t been a psot-mortem done yet so these theories are completely baseless but I’m going by what my gut tells me.  Its just too much of a coincidence for this to happen right after a shock defeat.  The job of the coach of the Pakistani cricket team could go down as one of the most dangerous jobs in the world now.

Nevertheless, this has been a very sad incident. It shows us again how fragile and short our lives can be.  I’m sure everyone, and there must have been quite a few, who cursed and abused Bob Woolmer over the past few months in Pakistan must fel like they have blood on their hands right now. You all contributed little portions to the demise of this great man.  Its time people in that part of the world really started to get a life and realise this is only a game, just a game. Too short and too insignificant.  Sport mirrors life in that as we may lose or win in life, we lose or win in sport.

R.I.P Robert Woolmer.  It was never ment to end this way.

I just finished watching this weeks ‘Cold Case” episode. It was probably the most powerful episode I’ve seen.  There are a few things about this show that I love. Its a culmination of few things that are special to me and its feels good to know that there is a show like this. God bless your sweet oul Jerry Bruckheimer. So, what is it that I like about Cold Case? Well, for starters most of the incidents are from the 80’s. This ensures the soundtrack on each episode is filled with wonderful music from the 80s. Todays epsiode was about a 16 yr old dancer kid who was killed by his brother back in 1984, so it had more than its usual share of good 80’s songs.  There’s something very sad about an incident that takes place in the past that affects us till today, and we’re unable to change it or how it affects us. The show kind of builds on this emotion.  I also love the fact that there are now hi-fi forensics or smartass computer whizzes cracking codes to get into government computers and solving crimes because those shows frankly make me squirm.

I also watched The amazing race today. Was mighty pleased that Team Cha cha cha, Danny and Oswald finished in first place. They’re probably my favorite Amazing Race team of all time and its good to see them do well this all start season.

Went off to Grove City, PA early in the morning yesterday and was back by the late afternoon.  The 1999 Subary Legacy Outback is back with a brand new engine and driving better than ever. I sure hope the car lasts for a while still now with the new engine.  It really has been a fun car to drive and although Stefan will keep the car now I will always remember the car as the one in which I reallly learned to drive and the one in which I got my first drivers license. Lots of good memories associated with that car, right from the time when we were car shopping in the summer, till the time we tried to pull it all the way back to Bowling Green from Barkeyville, PA! Okay, that last one probably wasn’t a very good memory, more like a friggin Thanksgiving nightmare but a lasting memory none the less.

Well the weather has gotten better here in Cleveland.  Its still cold outside but atleast the sky is clear, the suns been shining for a couple of days. It would seem as though these were signs that spring is just around the corner but I’m not sticking my neck out and making a prediction on that quite yet.

This week seems to have sped away but I’m really tired today. Last evening I came home with this pain in my back so I avoided hunching over my laptop in the evening and just stretched out and that seemed to have done the trick. Anyways so another Friday is upon us now and what do I have planned? Well for starters at work I have to undergo a 4 hour work training thing, it should break the monotony and I’m kinda looking forward to it.  Then in the evening my buddy stefan comes up from Bowling Green and we head off Pennsylvania really early, like 6 AM the next morning. There goes my saturday sleep in plans. But whats a missed sleep in for a good friend. I actually look forward to the long drive, should be interesting.

The new game show “Are you smarter than a 5th Grader” is on right now. I have to say, I think this show sucks big time. The participants seem like complete morons, thats more than likely because its fixed. Whats worse is the little brats on the show have been fed the answers to show how fricking smart they are. I refuse to believe they can get every answer right on the show and the participants such dumbasses. I also hate that there seem to be no prizes or anything for the kids. Who came up with the idea for this bullshit?

What song have I been enjoing lately? The way you love me by Faith Hill!!!!

 If I could grant
You one wish
I’d wish you could see the way you kiss
Ooh, I love watching you
Baby
When you’re driving me crazy

Ooh, I love the way you
Love the way you love me
There’s nowhere else I’d rather be
Ooh, to feel the way I feel with your arms around me
I only wish that you could see the way you love me
The way you love me

It’s not right
It’s not fair
What you’re missing over there
Someday I’ll find a way to show you
Just how lucky I am to know you

Ooh, I love the way you
Love the way you love me
There’s nowhere else I’d rather be
Ooh, to feel the way I feel with your arms around me
I only wish that you could see the way you love me
The way you love me

You’re the million reasons why
There’s love reflecting in my eyes

Ooh, I love the way you
Love the way you love me
There’s nowhere else I’d rather be
Ooh, to feel the way I feel with your arms around me
I only wish that you could see the way you love me
The way you love me
The way you love me

Ooh, the way you love me
The way you love me

The weather kind of cleared up today in Cleveland so I finally had a chance to go take an hour long walk outside.  It was still painfully cold outside but atleast there wasn’t piles of snow everywhere so I could walk.  On my way back, I stopped at the Radio shack to buy myself a pair of headphones.  The last pair I bought back were from the university bookstore and they’d all “break” in a couple of month. This time I thought I should get myself a pair that looks and feels solid even if I have to pay a lot for it. Turns out I got lucky cos I got a pair of Sony one’s for $14.  Its the ones that clip around the back of your ears, not something I would normally buy but I thought why not take a chance on it?

So the guy at the store is this Indonesian guy called Emil.  I asked him about some of the other stuff at the store like speakers and stuff and pretty much everything was a “piece  of crap” according to him. I couldn’t help but agree.  His honesty was refreshing.   Wish mores sales people were like him. Every other time you have salesmen trying to convince you the cheap chinese electronics stuff at the store is like some state of the art wonderful thing. Err yeaa…right.

Hit a roadblock with my new blog.  I did a u-turn and decided I would like WordPess as the publishing backend for the new blog. Now I have it installed on a freehost and will probably get a domain name for the blog.  However I still haven’t decided on a theme for it, There just seem to be so many out there that making a decision itself is taking time.  This is what too many options will do to you.  Just going to take things nice and easy and will have the blog up in time.  I’m using the delayed time to read up more stuff and coming up with more ideas for the blog.

Soooo……The first song I hear with my new headphones on?  Ordinary World by Duran Duran! :

Came in from a rainy thursday on the avenue
Thought I heard you talking softly.
I turned on the lights, the tv and the radio
Still I cant escape the ghost of you
What has happened to it all?
Crazy, somed say,
Where is the life that I recognize?
Gone away…

But I wont cry for yesterday, theres an ordinary world,
Somehow I have to find.
And as I try to make my way, to the ordinary world…
I will learn to survive.

Passion or coincidence once prompted you to say
Pride will tear us both apart
Well now prides gone out the window cross the rooftops, run away,
Left me in the vacuum of my heart.
What is happening to me?
Crazy, somed say,
Where is my friend when I need you most?
Gone away…

Drained Friday and sweet surprises March 3, 2007

Another week at works comes to and end. Boy was I worn out today!! Its been a long week and I felt pretty drained this Friday.

Yesterday I came back home to find an envelope from my buddy Stefan.  He sent along my birthday present, a collection of some awesome photographs and a check for the $800 I helped him by the Subaru legacy Outback with. I guess now that he’s raking in the moolah with his google job he doesn’t need the money anymore! LOL It was a neat surprise anyways, came out of the blue so it was pretty sweet. Stefan is away in Spokane this weekend for a job interview. I have my fingers crossed for him, he really deserves the job.

I vow to startup my technology/business/observation/commentary blog this weekend.  In as much as love WordPress I think I’m gonna go with Blogger for the new blog. Screw the domain name and stuff for now.  I’ll give the blog its own domain name if it deserves it.

Also this weekend I have to get around to filing my tax returns.  The time value of money kicked in this week and I realised I could throw the tax return money into a savings account longer if I got my returns earlier.  I’ve just been procrastinating on filing them for a few weeks now but I hope to get it done this weekend.

Thats it for now.  I might post in some other stuff over the weekend. Till then, Adios.

So I’m watching American Idol tonight and I see this trailer for a new Chris Rock movie called “I think I love my wife”. Now, nothing weird about that. Seems perfectly normal. What was weird was during the trailer I see a logo that looks very familiar. I knew at that instant it was the “UTV” Logo. United Television productions being this large production house in India and thats where I remember the logo from.  I initall thought some company ripped off the logo and is using it here but how likely is that???

I googled the company and found out that Disney acwuired a 14% stake in it last year and now ther decided on investing in Hollywood and “I think I love my wife” is going to be their first Hollywood venture.  For an Indian company to be producing a Hollywood film with Chris Rock in it seems really surreal and bizarre. That the movie looks awful…Chris rock doesn’t look very convincing as a married dude and it just seems like the movie is going to suck major ass, is a different subject.  But the fact that India’s UTV is producing this movie is really a sign of how times have changed. Its also a sign of how out of touch I am with going ons back home in India.  I can’t really help it, I can’t stay updated about most things happening back home, heck I hardly stay updated here!!

Anyways, here’s the trailer for “I think I love my wife”

I Can’t seem to watch the news on any of the TV channels here in Cleveland for any length of time. The news seems, well, for lack of a better term …worthless. I really don’t need to be informed about silly, trivial local matters such as a puppy dog not being fed two consecutive meals at a local shelter and how a local high school is going to open an hour early to make up for time lost during the blizzard last year.  Maybe its that I’m too new and too forein to this place that it seems that such matters would be covered on the news. In any case I rarely feel informed, educated or enlightened about anything after hearing the news. Also the nightly news will be clogged with news of Britneys latest escapades and the never ending saga of Anna Nicole Smith.

I have to admit, I did watch with some degree of interest the news following ANna nicoles death, with the bizarre court proceeedings and then the silly vidoes, one of them with her Indian doctor “Friend”. ANd now though, its gotten nauseating and sickening.  Probably one of the main reasons I stopped watching the news. I prefer to read the online papers.  I dont know if its just me but I’m getting the feeling CNN.com is turning into a tabloid kinda paper with more videos to bizarre trivial stories than actual reading material.  Its very annoying. At work I like to read the news from time to time but all you’ll get sometimes on th CNN.com headlines are links to videos, I can’t play fucking videos in the office.  I’m going to switch to the BBC website and get a more worldly perspectiv on things from tomorrow. Just like I’ve been used to for all these years. Cleveland dog kennels be damned,

Speaking of the BBC, I came across this major screw up the BBC caused last year where they mistook an African dude who was coming to the BBC for an interview for an accountant as an IT expert and interviewed him on air for a few minutes.  I laughed so hard warching this, just one more reason I’m in love with Youtube. Check out the video below:

How amazing is the amazing race February 26, 2007

I caught this seasons all star version of The Amazing Race today. They brought back all the popular teams from past seasons which I thought was an awesome idea.  I’m sure a ot of amazing race fans would have been wondering what happened to the pairs of teams in the past seasons. I know I wondered what Team Guido, Donny & Oswald, Charla and Mirna were upto, and it was great to see these guys back in action. They seem to be doing just as well as they did when they were first on the show. For someone who watched practically every episode of the first six seasons, I ‘ve seen all the teams on this season in action previously so its particu;arly sweet seeing them back on again.  Also, it reminds of the time when I used to watch the Amazing Race back home.  I remember my pulse racing and being so excited at the advetures on the show. It had funny cast members, travel adventure and excitement, all the ingredients of a great reality TV show. Now I’ve seen every big reality show there is and funnily I’ve enjoyed most of them, but nothing and I mean NOTHING comes close to how good the Amazing race really is.  I sure will try to make time to catch all epsiodes of this season every week.

On a completely unrealted note,  I’m currently listening (and enjoying) this song by Anna Nalick:

ANNA NALICK

Breathe (2 AM)

2 AM and she calls me ’cause I’m still awake,
Can you help me unravel my latest mistake,
I don’t love him, winter just wasn’t my season
Yeah we walk through the doors, so accusing their eyes
Like they have any right at all to criticize,
Hypocrites, you’re all here for the very same reason

‘Cause you can’t jump the track,we’re like cars on a cable
And life’s like an hourglass, glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button girl,
So cradle your head in your hands
And breathe, just breathe,
Woah breathe, just breathe

May he turn 21 on the base at Fort Bliss
Just a day, he sat down to the flask in his fist,
Ain’t been sober, since maybe October of last year.
Here in town you can tell he’s been down for a while,
But my God it’s so beautiful when the boy smiles,
Wanna hold him, maybe I’ll just sing about it.

Cause you can’t jump the track, we’re like cars on a cable,
And life’s like an hourglass, glued to the table.
No one can find the rewind button boys,
So cradle your head in your hands,
And breathe, just breathe,
Woah breathe, just breathe

There’s a light at each end of this tunnel, you shout
‘Cause you’re just as far in as you’ll ever be out
These mistakes you’ve made, you’ll just make them again
If you only try turning around.

2 AM and I’m still awake, writing a song
If I get it all down on paper, its no longer
Inside of me, threatening the life it belongs to
And I feel like I’m naked in front of the crowd
Cause these words are my diary, screaming out loud
And I know that you’ll use them, however you want to

Cause you can’t jump the track, we’re like cars on a cable,
And life’s like an hourglass, glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button now
Sing it if you understand.
And breathe, just breathe
Woah breathe, just breathe,
Oh breathe, just breathe.

If you need a friend,
don’t look to a stranger,
You know in the end,
I’ll always be there.

And when you’re in doubt,
and when you’re in danger,
Take a look all around,
and I’ll be there.

I’m sorry, but I’m just thinking of the right words to say.
I know they don’t sound the way I planned them to be.
But if you’ll wait around a while, I’ll make you fall for me,
I promise, I promise you I will.

Today was a good day at work. The caffeine kicked in bright and early and kept me very awake till the evening. But the coffee wasn’t the only reason it was a good day.  I felt like work was getting a bit routine and cumbersome, and then today I sat in at a meeting, completely understood everything that was explained to me and then I went ahead and created a report which I thought kicked ass.  I long for more days like these. At the end of the day I think everyone wants to do their job well and being appreciated is acknowledgement of this good work.

I’m still in the student mode, absorbing everything I can at every opportunity. I never realised how much I liked learning till I did my MBA and I also realise now that the learning never really stops. You can learn as much or as little about the world around you as you want to but when you’re as curios as I am, chances are you’re gonna wanna learn as much as possible!!!

I came home from work this evening to find a package waiting for me. It was from my brother in England. He sends me two silk ties. They’re awfully nice, really sexy and all. The problem being, I don’t wear ties to work. Nobody does. Besides, who the fuck gifts anyone ties in this day and age? The lack of thought behind the gift kinda threw me into a fit of rage.   I think everyone knows the relation I currently “enjoy” with my brother right now, and to make matters worse he had to go ahead and give me the most thoughtless gift in human history.  I’m all for good natured gifters making honest mistakes but this shit is off the hook.  It tells me a whole story those two ties, of how we haven’t spoken this year, of how he and his stupid fiancee keep treating me like shit. Makes me wanna go tear up the ties, burn em and make a video of it and upload it on youtube for him to see.

So I’ve been bored out of my mind this weekend. I was looking forward to this one last long weekend to head back to BG for a couple of days but first it was the fucked up weather and then there was the problem with the local enterprise rent a car people saying that they ran out of cars this weekend. Just my luck. What made it worse was this was my birthday weekend. I’m not one to make a big noise of birthdays and anniversaries but somewhere deep beneath you hope you can do something to mark the occasion.  Well, this year I didn’t. So that blowed big time.

Haven’t been upto much this weekend. Watched insane numbers of videos on youtube and read shitloads of websites. Didnt make much progress on my new blog. Kinda ran out of steam on that one. Probaby had someting to do with the sucky weather this weekend.

SO I’m 26 now. Don’t really know if I’m gonna turn a corner having completed quarter of a century on planet earth.  Who knows.  I don’t see any major reason to but you never know. Thats life. Gonna have a 4 day work week this week, so that should be interesting.  Gotta go get stuff ready for tomorrow. Not really in the blogging mood right now.
